Suffolk Mind is an organisation very close to my heart. They were there for me in 2008 when I needed counselling to deal with my past, and they've been there when other family and friends have needed them too. So I'm thrilled to be able to do something to raise awareness and funds for this worthwhile cause.
I can usually be found atop two wheels or in a swimming pool. However since the days have begun to get shorter, and with working from home every day, I soon realised it was important for me to get outside for a short walk during the day. This not only helped to get me up and moving, get some fresh air and see the daylight, but has been incredibly important for my mental health. I regularly practice mindfulness now - part of caring for my own mental health - so I use my walks as an opportunity for some mindful walking, connecting with nature, bringing myself back to the present moment, and generally soaking up all that the Suffolk countryside has to offer.
When I heard about this challenge I realised I could use this as a perfect opportunity to keep this habit going, as the days continue to get shorter and the weather inevitably gets worse. So I've set myself the challenge to walk 100 miles in 50 days (so by 28th December), although I will aim to do this before Christmas eve (46 days).
I've set my target for £100 - £1 for every mile I'll walk :)
